“Have You Anything to Eat?” is inspired by Luke 24:36-48
This image was created for Sojourner’s Magazine Living the Word commentary for April 2024
This image was inspired by Dr. Raj Nadella’s commentary on Luke 24:36-48 where he focused on the meal stories in Jesus’ ministry as a call to action, “The burden of disrupting existing structures and providing resources to the poor should not lie solely with the Messiah but must be continued by others— the disciples and hearers of this good news.” In this image Jesus’ hands have wounds to reference his post-resurrection appearance to the disciples. The wounds also represent his physical, bodily sacrifice as being “the quintessential act that defined him,” as Nadela noted in his commentary.
