2021 PAM Worship & Music Conference Artist

In the summer of 2021, I served as Conference Artist at the Presbyterian Association of Musicians Worship & Music Conference. As Conference Artist, I created an art installation inspired by the conference theme, biblical texts, and music for the week of worship.

Live Painting

When I am invited into worshiping communities to live paint during worship, I approach this work as a pastor, exegete, and artist. In preparation, I collaborate with pastors and lay worship leadership, study the scripture texts as I would in writing a sermon, and explore imagery, color, medium, and compositional ideas. My ultimate hope is that my contribution to worship will serve as visual proclamation— a visual bolstering of the Word proclaimed throughout the movement of the liturgy, and a means through which congregants can more fully and holistically engage in worship.
